Sophia Armen
Sophia Armen is a Chancellor's Postdoctoral Program Fellow at the Asian American Studies Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research explores Middle Eastern-American racial formation from the perspective of refugees and community organizers. Dr. Armen holds a PhD and MA in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, San Diego and a BA in Global Studies with Feminist Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a former Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Zohrab Liebmann Foundation fellow. Her interdisciplinary work utilizes a transnational, bottom-up approach to recover histories of communities that have faced erasure, disposession, and genocide.
