Matthew McKinney

Matthew is a PhD candidate in Islamic Studies at UCLA. He is currently conducting research on Hamas, its recruitment strategies and the intersection of religion and nationalism in the organization's rhetoric. Matthew also attended UCLA as an undergraduate, majoring in Middle Eastern and North African Studies, Political Science, and Arabic. As a Burkle Center graduate intern he will be working closely with Dr. Kantathi Suphamongkhon, UCLA Regents' Professor and the 39th Foreign Minister of Thailand. After completing his PhD, Matthew hopes to work in the field of international diplomacy.
